Could you please try to emerge ffmpeg-0.4.8?
I'm still trying to reproduce your error and have no luck...
Maybe -0.4.8 works for you too.
High time we mark it stable imho.

do you use linux-2.6.x headers ? if so, could you try re-emerging them and then see if ffmpeg works ?
