Gramps does not start if the Python 3 version is selected as the default python.
The problem is in /usr/bin/gramps, last line:
exec /usr/bin/python -O $GRAMPSDIR/gramps.py "$@"

If you change that line to read
exec /usr/bin/python2 -O $GRAMPSDIR/gramps.py "$@"

then everything works fine.

Fixed through some configure manipulation.  Thanks for the information.
