Which version is this bug for? Are you saying these should not get installed? latest(In reply to comment #1) > Which version is this bug for? 2.9.0.5 > Are you saying these should not get installed? yep Are you sure these should be removed? The snort package installs the .la files in the following directories: /usr/lib64/snort_dynamicpreprocessor/ /usr/lib64/snort_dynamicengine/ Based on a recent post on gnu.org, I think these files might be needed... http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/automake/2011-03/msg00091.html This seems to suggest that if the libraries aren't installed in the standard locations (/lib /usr/lib) than the .la files are needed. ldconfig -p does not show the libraries snort_dynamicpreprocessor and snort_dynamicengine libraries listed. I'm fine with removing them, as long as we are absolutely sure they are not needed. Do you still want them removed? I used the following strace method to see if the .la files were being used. They are not, so I'll remove them. Thx! http://blog.flameeyes.eu/2009/07/06/identifying-pointless-la-files-for-plugins resolved in Bug 382851 |
