Which version is this bug for? Are you saying these should not get installed?

Are you sure these should be removed? The snort package installs the .la files in the following directories:

/usr/lib64/snort_dynamicpreprocessor/
/usr/lib64/snort_dynamicengine/

Based on a recent post on gnu.org, I think these files might be needed...

http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/automake/2011-03/msg00091.html

This seems to suggest that if the libraries aren't installed in the standard locations (/lib /usr/lib) than the .la files are needed. ldconfig -p does not show the libraries snort_dynamicpreprocessor and snort_dynamicengine libraries listed.

I'm fine with removing them, as long as we are absolutely sure they are not needed.

Do you still want them removed?

I used the following strace method to see if the .la files were being used. They are not, so I'll remove them. Thx!
