Description Charles Davis 2011-09-02 18:27:50 UTC
For the past few months or so, gstreamer has been stuck at 0.10.31 in Prefix. Despite this, gst-plugins-base was updated (in Prefix) to 0.10.35. This requires gstreamer-0.10.34. As a result, Portage refuses to update gst-plugins-base.

Is there something preventing you from updating gstreamer? Or is this just an oversight?

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge -1 gst-plugins-base
Actual Results:
Portage refuses to update gst-plugins-base because gstreamer is too old and no newer ebuilds exist. Other packages update just fine.

Expected Results:
Portage should be able to update both gstreamer and gst-plugins-base.

Trying to run emerge -pqv gst-plugins-base produces this:

emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy ">=media-libs/gstreamer-0.10.34:0.10[introspection?]".
(dependency required by "media-libs/gst-plugins-base-0.10.35" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "gst-plugins-base" [argument])

It is also not possible to even update gst-plugins-base to 0.10.32 because of this:

emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy ">=media-libs/gstreamer-0.10.32".
(dependency required by "media-libs/gst-plugins-base-0.10.32" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "=media-libs/gst-plugins-base-0.10.32" [argument])

I'm hoping this will fix bug 366931.
Comment 1 Fabian Groffen gentoo-dev 2011-09-14 19:26:27 UTC
gstreamer is now taken directly from gx86, thanks
Comment 2 Charles Davis 2011-09-30 22:54:10 UTC
Thanks! But it didn't fix bug 366391.
Comment 3 Charles Davis 2011-09-30 22:55:01 UTC
Sorry, bug 366931
