You forgot to attach the build log. The build.log file was too big to attach, so I followed one of the recommendations and put it at the URL above. That server is not consistently up, however, so if you can grab it, it might be a good idea to do so, because when you want to look at it, it may not be accessible. The title may be misleading: the ebuild gcc-4.4.6-r1 fails to successfully install the 4.4.6-r1 version of gcc, but the ebuild gcc-4.5.3-r1 does successfully install the 4.5.3-r1 version of gcc. Older installs (say from February back) all installed successfully as well. Attach a gzip'd build.log. Compress the build log and attach it. Created attachment 288793 [details]

Log of failure
Requested log attached. Please note .xz compression due to size of logfile. -mavx, which is implied by -march=native on your processor, seems broken in 4.4 and I can't get upstream to acknowledge it. We've been telling people to just use -march=native -mno-avx with 4.4. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 357287 *** |
emerge fails, same independent of single thread or multithread build, I think the significant error is at dwarf2out.c line 2292: {standard input}: Assembler messages: {standard input}: Error: open CFI at the end of file; missing .cfi_endproc directive
