alternate tar file
do not match the original Manifest (maybe its includes the cvs data stuff as i see in tar files before) so need to copy the ebuild and related files to local overlay and remake the Manifest. Mine include the clone from 20110814 and the two patches in files dir.

My point is why is this even in the tree if the original tarball that's required to build the package is nonexistent? If one tries to find this on their own on the 'net, the size doesn't match forcing it to not manifest correctly and the ebuild to fail to emerge. The other alternative, suggested in comment #5 by Ivan, requires using one's local portage overlay. Although this may work, it doesn't excuse releasing an ebuild into the tree without ability to download the file(s) needed to build it. Scanning through the previous bug reports show that this exact issue has occurred on at least 2 other occasions with this package (see bug #124613 and bug #261931) Why is it so difficult to get such a small file uploaded to mirrors in conjunction with a corresponding ebuild? Isn't there anyone in charge of checking these things BEFOREHAND? Too bad that nobody CCed the right team for something to happen quickly. Package was masked, Mike please only unmask it if you set it to fetch the package from your dev.gentoo.org space and _not_ from mirror://gentoo/ (and upload there the tarball, as well). |
