Description José Romildo Malaquias 2004-01-10 03:47:23 UTC
I have just emerged the new sys-kernel/gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.1 ebuild, configured the kernel (with make oldconfig) using the same .config from the previous kernel release (config-2.6.1-rc3-gentoo) and started compiling it (make).

Compilation stops with the messages:

[...]
  CC drivers/block/deadline-iosched.o
{standard input}: Assembler messages:
{standard input}:1144: Error: invalid character ';' in mnemonic
{standard input}:1257: Error: invalid character ';' in mnemonic
make[2]: *** [drivers/block/deadline-iosched.o] Error 1
make[1]: *** [drivers/block] Error 2
make: *** [drivers] Error 2

Reproducible: Always

Comment 1 José Romildo Malaquias 2004-01-11 01:51:28 UTC
Somehow I have managed to compile this kernel and the error has gone. I do not know exactly what eliminated it. I made 'mrproper', commented out the relevant entries in the old .config file and made 'oldconfig'. Then compilation was successfull.

So I am marking this bug as invalid. If anybody else meets it again, then it can be reopened.
