Description Rafał Mużyło 2011-07-28 23:36:07 UTC
First thing I've noticed about texlive-core 2011 was that the source tarball has grown about four times. Most of the growth is caused by bundling biber binaries (utils/biber).
biber upstream uses on shipped binaries some perl scheme that packs it with all perl modules it requires in one ELF file - texlive uses those.

If feasible, it would be welcome if Gentoo could unbundle that.

Okay, so we've unbundled biber... which leaves Gentoo biber users high and dry. Is there an ebuild for this in the pipe?

When I create a biber package with g-ctan, I get a Gentoo ebuild with 6 files in it, none of which is the biber executable, so that's not a solution.
