Comment 2 Ian Delaney (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-07-30 13:29:08 UTC
you will find there is a directory /.config.
That is, .config in the system root directory.

Delete it manually. Re-try.
Comment 3 Tomas Vondra 2011-07-30 17:14:00 UTC
I've removed the .config (not sure where it came from), but now it fails with a different error:

cc1: warnings being treated as errors
blktapctrl.c: In function ‘open_ctrl_socket’:
blktapctrl.c:765: error: implicit declaration of function ‘mkdir’
blktapctrl.c:767: error: implicit declaration of function ‘mkfifo’
make[4]: *** [blktapctrl.o] Error 1
make[4]: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....

See the files attached (emerge-info-2.log and build-2.log).

Wondering if you still follow this.
The .config error is fixed in 4.1
The next error you got is due to a mix up with system headers & is also now fixed in the tree under versions -r3 -r4. Shall see to getting the fix for this also

Sure I still follow this. The 4.1 works fine.
