Description Ian Delaney (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-07-27 21:17:56 UTC
The gentoo package of the current 4.1.0 hypervisor completely cracks under the slightest load.

It emerges fine with all use flags set.

On selecting a vm placed and listed in virt-manager or use by xm create, xen hypervisor package appears to crack the gentoo system to its core.
The initial contact with booting the vm, the machine / system simply hard re-sets, or re-boots.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge the current xen 4.1.0
2. boot into the current xen kernel.
3. Attempt to boot or an established vm or install a new vm.
Actual Results:
system exits immediately and a re-boot occurs.

Expected Results:
Boot the xen vm.

Having also acquired the testing 4.1.0 package from xensource, the gentoo system works quite readily on installing from the xensource source.
This package is xen-4.1.0-rc7-pre.gz in /boot.

They more or less have similar options and settings.

A fresh single session xend log from booting to ungracious collapse.

The log indicates other flaws in xen processes.
