I find the same problem as raised on 
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-880501.html

Basically I have two problems:
One is the compiling of rcupdate.h
/lib/modules/3.0.0-gentoo/build/include/linux/rcupdate.h:822:2: error: size of unnamed array is negative

the other is the check in conftest of the linux version that fails

x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-270* does not compile too, because they could not determine kernel version(they would think that there is only 2.4 and 2.6 kernels :/)

x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-173.14.31 (not in the tree) fix the issues.

issue resolves in updated package x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-275.09.07 

also no troubles so far with nvidia-drivers-275.09.07

Thanks, i will try to use it again, earlier i had some regressions with games, running under wine with 275.xx drivers(do not remember full version).
