Since the metadata module from gentooolkit has been added into portage, we should drop the gentoolkit version of the module and migrate to using the portage version of the module.

minimum portage versions that include the metadata.xml code are:

2.2_rc76,
2.1.9.12

So we'll probably need to keep the existing code around for backup for at least the next version release.
