Description Michael Cummings (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-01-07 04:01:12 UTC
Trying to setup a local mirror to distribute the portage tree using the app-admin/gentoo-rsync-mirror fails badly. The syntax for /etc/rsync/rsyncd.conf file is no longer valid - when I attempt to sync against my local tree, the first error I got was that there was no entry for "metadata". Added an entry, as I think appropriate, but then received errors that there was no entry for "*" in the conf. Added one for that as well. I think it's working right now, but out of the box this conf is broken. Also, the original conf had an "Exclude distfiles" - this causes rsync to delete /usr/portage/distfiles during an emerge sync, not all together a happy course of action if you ask me...

Yeah, so with no good example of a SYNC line for make.conf I made an (un)intelligent entry. Fixed. Sorry for the email,
