net-p2p/rtorrent-0.8.9 and net-libs/libtorrent-0.12.9 new stable versions are available at http://libtorrent.rakshasa.no/#StableRelease

I renamed net-p2p/rtorrent-0.8.7-r3 and net-libs/libtorrent-0.12.7-r1 and removed all patches even the canvas (color) patch as it didn't apply to the new code.

It seems to be working fine.
