elog "add 'multipath' into your boot runlevel!"
Well, I installed multipatch. Result unchanged. Let me ask you, how it ( multipatch ) relates to the problem? IMHO, problem in the logic of the RC system: Kpartx udev rules work after lvm, and lvm not again scan devices; May be the solution becomes the following - trap kernel event to create kpartx devices and run pvscan again ? i have no idea as i've never used multipath-tools. i just pointed out a log entry that you missed. openrc doesnt care about inter-device dependencies, especially as every system does them differently. Comment #6 asked for a specific answer, but the reporter hasn't responded in close to 6 months. Please feel free to re-open if this is still an issue. Thanks, William |
possibly incorrect logic of RC system (udev, init script) with lvm and kpartx. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create LV lvm, for example: /dev/VG00/test Create MBR partitions with fdisk on this LV. 2.run command: kpartx -a , partitions will be added to the system. ( for example - /dev/mapper/VG00-testp{1,2,3...} ) create dmtab file: dmsetup table >> /etc/dmtab and add device-mapper in boot runlevel 3. create LVM physical volume amd volume group in /dev/mapper/VG00-testp1 ( for example named NESTED ) and reboot Actual Results: after reboot RC systems ( udev, etc ..) not create device in /dev for (NESTED) new VG software version: venera ~ # emerge --info Portage 2.2.0_alpha40 (default/linux/amd64/10.0/desktop/kde, gcc-4.5.2, glibc-2.13-r2, 2.6.39-gentoo x86_64) ================================================================= System uname: Linux-2.6.39-gentoo-x86_64-Intel-R-_Pentium-R-_D_CPU_2.80GHz-with-gentoo-2.0.2 Timestamp of tree: Thu, 16 Jun 2011 06:00:01 +0000 app-shells/bash: 4.2_p10 dev-lang/python: 2.7.1-r1, 3.2 dev-util/cmake: 2.8.4-r1 sys-apps/baselayout: 2.0.2 sys-apps/openrc: 0.8.2-r1 sys-apps/sandbox: 2.5 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.68 sys-devel/automake: 1.11.1-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.21 sys-devel/gcc: 4.5.2 sys-devel/gcc-config: 1.4.1-r1 sys-devel/libtool: 2.4-r1 sys-devel/make: 3.82-r1 sys-kernel/linux-headers: 2.6.38 (virtual/os-headers) sys-libs/glibc: 2.13-r2 Repositories: gentoo my-dev rion Installed sets: ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="amd64 ~amd64" =sys-fs/udev-171-r1 =sys-fs/multipath-tools-0.4.9-r2 venera ~ # uname -a Linux venera 2.6.39-gentoo #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue May 24 13:33:07 EEST 2011 x86_64 Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 2.80GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
