Not crashes, it creates a critical mistake.

Error (debug):
(gedit:4425): Gtk-CRITICAL **: IA__gtk_progress_set_percentage: assertion `percentage >= 0 && percentage <= 1.0' failed

My Windows Manager is fluxbox.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open direct file
2. out error

not out error

I cannot reproduce from icewm, have you tried on a new created user account? Do you have any gedit extension enabled?
