Sounds like missing dbus-launch when running the session, resulting in a empty or wrong variable of $DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS $ echo $DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS (In reply to comment #1) > Sounds like missing dbus-launch when running the session, resulting in a empty > or wrong variable of $DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS > > $ echo $DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS $ echo $DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS $ Bingo. So when you connect to the server remotely... What steps are you exactly taking, the commands? What gets executed? Because I'm not convinced this is a bug but just lack of proper launching of X. client $ ssh -X -Y server Password: server $ xterm & server $ xv file.png # works server $ gthumb file.png # doe not work server $ ps -ef | grep dbus adminrig 12892 1 0 12:59 pts/0 00:00:00 dbus-launch --autolaunch=2de8d29b404da6d8b1d95ff300053eef --binary-syntax --close-stderr server $ No X-server is running there on a local console, but for what? Maybe running "dbus-launch gthumb" could help I found some binaries were broken on the server. It seems the gcc -mavx flags the cause. Jun 10 12:59:26 s00142 kernel: [89520.889592] dbus-daemon[12894] trap invalid opcode ip:7f3338d7c26b sp:7fff50a01820 error:0 in dbus-daemon[7f3338d5d000+66000] I removing the offending CFLAGS item and recompiling some apps it started to work fine, and also recompile of dbus helped in this particular regard. Sorry for the noise. |
