jless-358.254.ebuild (New)
well... we can't quite do it the way you have it... but check this out : http://www.lostlogicx.com/ebuilds/less-iso254-358.ebuild btw, I really liked some of the shell magic you did in the ebuild you created ... it just really didn't follow our accepted way of handling things... I'll have to run this by another dev before I can include it as I have done it... I'm curious, is there any reason to not apply this patch to less in general? because if not, we may also consider doing that... Hi, > well... we can't quite do it the way you have it... but check this out : > http://www.lostlogicx.com/ebuilds/less-iso254-358.ebuild As far as I have reviewed/emerged/used in LANG=C/ja_JP.eucJP, your ebuild is perfect. I am happy if you could merge it into the portage distribution. Thank you. > btw, I really liked some of the shell magic you did in the ebuild you created > ... it just really didn't follow our accepted way of handling things... Well, that's my fault and please don't mind. I should have follow instructions in gentoo.org. I was just a little frastrated by the manner to handle rather bigger patches, that is not suitable to be put in files/ directory. Sorry about my trick. > I'll have to run this by another dev before I can include it as I have > done it... > I'm curious, is there any reason to not apply this patch to less in general? > because if not, we may also consider doing that... Well, as far as I understand, jless shall work exactly same as normal less when LANG/LC_ALL/LESSCHARSET and other environment variables are set to C. So, I don't see any reason not apply this patch to the sys-apps/less. Exception: the versions between sys-apps/less and app-i18n/less-iso254 are different, 371 vs. 358. Also, I have not test the negative inpact into other LANGs such as Korean, German, etc. Thank you very much. moto kawasaki Created attachment 1660 [details]
