Description droshalla 2011-05-22 13:21:53 UTC
While trying to emerge net-wireless/gnome-bluetooth, I ran into problems during the install phase. Source compiles cleanly. Install is ok up and until the plugins directory is referenced. Libtool breaks with an error message saying it cannot install libgbtgeoclue.la to a directory not ending in /usr/lib64/gnome-bluetooth/plugins/.

The error message itself doesn't seem to be consistent, because 'install' in fact did try to install libgbtgeoclue.la into a directory ending in the path mentioned. See further below for verbatim error message.

The system didn't have most of the GNOME packages before, but I don't think this is much of a problem.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge -va net-wireless/gnome-bluetooth
2.
3.
Actual Results:
...
test -z "/usr/lib64/gnome-bluetooth/plugins/" || /bin/mkdir -p "/var/tmp/portage/net-wireless/gnome-bluetooth-2.32.0/image//usr/lib64/gnome-bluetooth/plugins/"
 /bin/sh ../../libtool --mode=install /usr/bin/install -c libgbtgeoclue.la '/var/tmp/portage/net-wireless/gnome-bluetooth-2.32.0/image//usr/lib64/gnome-bluetooth/plugins/'
libtool: install: error: cannot install `libgbtgeoclue.la' to a directory not ending in /usr/lib64/gnome-bluetooth/plugins/
make[4]: *** [install-pluginLTLIBRARIES] Error 1
...

Expected Results:
I expected gnome-bluetooth to install cleanly, or at least have clearer error messages.

Comment 2 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2011-06-04 13:48:13 UTC
I cannot reproduce, are you able to on an fully updated system?
Comment 3 droshalla 2011-06-14 18:15:30 UTC
I can still reproduce the error. System is fully up to date from what I can see.
This package is selected due to the Wammu package being updated. I'd be grateful for any hints!

Still fails at:

Have you tried with MAKEOPTS="-j1"?
Comment 5 droshalla 2011-06-15 01:01:09 UTC
Yes, I've tried the MAKEOPTS="-j1" bit right now. The problem still persists. this being an install phase problem, I'm not too sure whether it might be libtools fault.

Comment 6 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2011-06-15 18:55:31 UTC
Does it fail in the same way when manually compiling from upstream sources?
Comment 7 droshalla 2011-06-16 16:41:53 UTC
Yes it does fail when compiling from the (unpatched) gentoo sources from distfiles. However, it does fail at a completely different spot, during compile phase.

As you can see it now says the arguments to the function notify_notification_new don't match the pattern expected. Might this be related to other (lib)notify problems?

Set status VERIFIED OBSOLETE. The system has been wiped since, and an install from -minimal media worked without this problem appearing.
