what version of alsa? I think the 1.0 series is still pretty buggy. I use the standard alsa driver alsa-driver-0.9.8, emerged ofcourse. I have the same problem. KDE 3.2.0 on amd64, using the alsa plugin for xmms and arts. Trying to change the volume on KDE's sounds caused arts to crash, spamming my desktop with HUNDREDS of "artsd crashed" notices. Sound doesn't work anywhere now, not even in console with amp, which had worked fine before. permissions are fine on /dev/sound/* and /dev/snd/*, alsamixer shows everything unmuted, Apparently the people upstream are aware of this: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68601 http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70028 closing this as upstream bug - please prod the folks at bugs.kde.org if this still persists. :) |
