We won't be adding unmaintained packages in tree, closing as wontfix. I agree with you but it seems you are saying well and doing bad. For instance, sys-fs/cdfs-2.6.27 ebuild is in the portage since linux vanilla kernel 2.6.27 has been released. It's still in portage but masked. Gentoo current kernel is gentoo kernel version 2.6.37-gentoo-r4 so I think sys-fs/cdfs-2.6.27 is unmaintained since kernel version 2.6.27 has been released. So if a package requires to be maintained to be added to gentoo portage tree why are packages unmaintained kept in to portage tree? Esys-fs/cdfs-2.6.27 ebuild is working ok but cdfs-2.6.27 doesn't work at all. it doesn't work even with gentoo linux kernel 2.6.27. One year ago I sent an email to cdfs coder to ask for fixing the problem. I'm still waiting a response. While cdfs doesn't work, cddfs, the package i suggested, is working ok... |
