Hi there,
i have modified the beuild for festival so it can integrate the german language specific extensions from http://www.ims.uni-stuttgart.de/phonetik/synthesis/
I have a couple of things though i would like someone more knowledged about portage to add in to count it providable if wanted.
What would need to be done is asking for manual download of some files it needs, since the offer is with a kind of low level registration (similar to suns java stuff), plus eventually adding another USE variable plus a trick to make "mbrola" get installed too, after the german version is done, plus adding three more voices to mbrola (which is just about downloading/installing... I would certainly help finishing these, too. But as tried to describe, i'm at a point feeling uncertain on how to go on.

Take a look at the realplayer ebuilds in media-video ; realplayer-8-r6 does some autofetching, while requiring certain files fetched manually.
