It seems that the zeitgeist is now superseeded by this one.

gnome-activity-journal is just the event viewer. Are you referring to something else ?
Comment 4 Justin Lecher (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-01-30 11:49:26 UTC
The GAJ website says:

GNOME Activity Journal (formerly known as GNOME Zeitgeist) is a tool for easily browsing and finding files on your computer. It keeps a chronological journal of all file activity and supports tagging and establishing relationships between groups of files.

But probably I am wrong. I will pack this and see what it really is. Perhaps that simply worked on the naming.

ok I still don't understand what you are saying :)

anyway, if you wish to update these ebuilds in gentoo-x86, feel free to gather things I dropped in my overlay as a source. I intended to do this myself but couldn't get further than bumping stuff in the overlay for testing before merging.

I find that zeitgeist-daemon is crashing a lot (python2.7 segfault) but I can't figure out why (and this is unrelated to gaj anyway).
