Description Cluster-one 2011-04-19 17:11:34 UTC
I use pulseaudio-0.9.22 via plugin as default alsa audio device (it is configured like in the "The Perfect Setup" guide on the pulseaudio homepage).

Since adobe-flash-10.2.159.1 the alsa-plugins-1.0.24 is needed to have adobe-flash working with pulseaudio.

Even though there is no direct dependency of the pulseauio plugin to flash, the combination of pulseaudio and flash is not so rare(I guess).
To spare the trouble for users who always use an up-to-date flash player:
please add some dependencies or give some hint to the user after the adobe-flash installation that he needs to update alsa-plugins too.

Additional Info:
-amd64 system with gentoo-sources-2.6.38
-Normal alsa sound is working with adobe-flash-10.2.159.1 and current stable version alsa-plugins-1.0.23-r1.

You can find more bugs related to the issue by searching for closed bugs with keywords of 'pulseaudio' and 'alsa'. Everytime this has been refused by the pulseaudio maintainers with the same reasoning of "Install alsa-plugins if you need it, no USE flag should be pulling it in". And, well, I agree.
Comment 4 Cluster-one 2011-04-19 18:02:16 UTC
I wasn't complaining about any use flags.

All I wanted to share was the information about the used versions:

When I use adobe-flash in version above or equal 10.2.159.1.
And I use alsa-plugins in version 1.0.23-r1 (for the pulseaudio plugin)
This is not working together.

You need alsa-plugins in version above or equal 1.0.24 to have adobe-flash working.
