Description Francesco Pretto 2003-12-23 15:07:34 UTC
the bug (and reason, and possibile resolution):

kppp doesn't connect if 'auth' is set in the /etc/ppp/option. These are the errors:

Dec 23 13:05:35 [pppd] The remote system is required to authenticate itself
Dec 23 13:05:35 [pppd] but I couldn't find any suitable secret (password) for it to use to do so.
Dec 23 13:05:35 [pppd] (None of the available passwords would let it use an IP address.)

This is a default in some distro, the option 'noauth' should be given to the specific peer. Solutions: give noauth to every connection created with kppp, OR do a chech 'auth' in the dialog setup

REPRODUCIBLE: Always

Version of the software: 2.1.2-any, kde 3.1.4

Step to reproduce: Above notes should be sufficient

I think this bug should be sent to the kde upstream.

Yes, my english is evil too...

They're not going to fix this as its a part of their FAQ on the kppp site.

so this is an upstream bug, which most likely will no be fixed
