Please don't CC random developers even if they appear at the top of the ChangeLog. Use metadata.xml to find out who maintains a package. I haven't seen your problem with googleearth at all while likewise I do not have media-fonts/ttf-bitstream-vera installed. So I guess your fontconfig setup is flawed. Try running `eselect fontconfig list' and then set it to some reasonable defaults. Sorry, I picked the CC from inside the ebuild. I already took a glance at 'eselect fontconfig list' yesterday and couldn't find anything obviously wrong, frankly I never changed anything in there, but I can post it here later today when I'm back at the machine. $ eselect fontconfig list Available fontconfig .conf files (* is enabled): [1] 10-autohint.conf [2] 10-no-sub-pixel.conf [3] 10-sub-pixel-bgr.conf [4] 10-sub-pixel-rgb.conf [5] 10-sub-pixel-vbgr.conf [6] 10-sub-pixel-vrgb.conf [7] 10-unhinted.conf [8] 20-fix-globaladvance.conf * [9] 20-unhint-small-dejavu-sans.conf [10] 20-unhint-small-dejavu-sans-mono.conf [11] 20-unhint-small-dejavu-serif.conf [12] 20-unhint-small-vera.conf * [13] 25-unhint-nonlatin.conf [14] 30-metric-aliases.conf * [15] 30-urw-aliases.conf * [16] 40-nonlatin.conf * [17] 45-latin.conf * [18] 49-sansserif.conf * [19] 50-user.conf * [20] 51-local.conf * [21] 57-dejavu-sans.conf [22] 57-dejavu-sans-mono.conf [23] 57-dejavu-serif.conf [24] 60-latin.conf * [25] 60-liberation.conf [26] 65-fonts-persian.conf * [27] 65-khmer.conf [28] 65-nonlatin.conf * [29] 69-unifont.conf * [30] 70-no-bitmaps.conf [31] 70-yes-bitmaps.conf [32] 80-delicious.conf * [33] 90-synthetic.conf * This should be the untouched default config. I have the same problems here with google earth 6 and nothing I have tried so far works. I have the same problem with 5.2 and 6.0. OTOH, 5.1 seems to work fine. One thing I've noticed is that when I go to tools -> options -> 3d view -> choose 3d font I don't see any fonts being listed there (in >=5.2) or I see all installed fonts (in 5.1). Can someone who doesn't have this problem with >=5.2 check what fonts appear in that dialog? I had the same problem, and I solved it by installing media-fonts/font-adobe-100dpi . See : http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-916506.html The ebuild should be changed to ask for this package. Created attachment 305889 [details]
New ebuild for GoogleEarth
Install missing fonts
I don't think that this is a proper solution for 2 reasons: 1) These fonts are bitmap fonts and look really ugly 2) They don't support non-Latin characters. As I mentioned in Comment 6, the problem seems to be that google earth can only see the bitmap fonts installed in the system. May be it is not a perfect solution, but in the meantime I can use GoogleEarth. is this still an issue with 7.0.2.8415-r1? That version doesn't even start here, so I couldn't test. ;) |
