a) if you don't want that use AUTOCLEAN="no" in make.conf b) taking the portage example you gave, it means that portage -r15 was installed but there might be old files from the -r4 version, so portage removes those old unneeded (and likely useless) files, but won't touch the files that were installed with -r15. |
