Xorg.log from working X-Server (kernel 2.6.36-r5)
Not sure if this is helpful.
Making a diff on both logfiles the trouble seems to begin with:
[ 29.884] ukiDynamicMajor: failed to open /proc/ati/major
[ 29.884] ukiDynamicMajor: failed to open /proc/ati/major
[ 29.912] (EE) fglrx(0): ACPI: DRM connection failed
Looking deeper into the diff I now find:
(EE) fglrx(0): atiddxDriScreenInit failed, GPS not been initialized.
(WW) fglrx(0): ***********************************************************
(WW) fglrx(0): * DRI initialization failed *
(WW) fglrx(0): * kernel module (fglrx.ko) may be missing or incompatible *
(WW) fglrx(0): * 2D and 3D acceleration disabled *
(WW) fglrx(0): ***********************************************************
I already had tried revdep-rebuild. Seems I should try emerge -1 x11-drivers/ati-drivers.
Of course emerge -1 x11-drivers/ati-drivers did it. Don't know why I didn't think about that _before_ filing the report. Sorry for the noise. |
