This: # udev rules insinto /etc/udev/rules.d newins "${FILESDIR}"/10-blackberry.rules 10-blackberry.rules Is wrong because /etc/udev/rules.d is for *users*, think of /usr/local here. If installed from Portage it should go into /lib/udev/rules.d/
