Description Rem 2011-03-20 08:06:37 UTC
The line (in code listing 2.10)
"livecd ~ # mdadm --create /dev/md3 --level=1 --raid-devices=2 /dev/sda3 /dev/sdb3" should either include "--metadata=0.90" or the guide should describe how to set up mdadm within an initrd.

It does mention "Then create the RAID device nodes and devices. Please bear in mind that the /boot and / mount points should use an older metadata format which can be specified by the --metadata=0.90 flag:" right before this.

Reproducible: Always

I didn't pay close attention when running through this guide, as the last time I installed using it, the version piece wasn't required.

Patch for tipsntricks as well as raid+lvm quickinstall

Single patch to update the mdadm instructions in two documents
- gentoo-x86-tipsntricks.xml
- gentoo-x86+raid+lvm2-quickinstall.xml

Uses metadata=0.90 for the important file systems and adds a blurb about the 0.90 for critical versus non-critical file systems.

Fixed in CVS. Thanks for reporting, and thanks to swift for the patch.
