Facebook now offers XMPP access to their chat services and pidgin has a Facebook option built into the new account screen.

I don't think it should be obsoleted until discontinued by upstream. Even though I myself use XMPP for Facebook, this plugin also has an advantage in some cases. So should remain in tree.
