Description Ivan Trombley 2011-03-10 21:23:45 UTC
If I start xscreensaver-demo I get the message "The XScreenSaver daemon doesn't seem to be running on display ":0.0". Launch it now?" If I click OK I get "The xscreensaver daemon did not start up properly. Please check your $PATH and permissions."

If I run xscreensaver directly from a command prompt I simply get a segmentation fault. Executing it through gdb I get:

"Starting program: /usr/bin/xscreensaver

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
0x00007ffff652991f in __strlen_sse42 () from /lib/libc.so.6"

This behavior started with a recent update.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
See description.

If I compile the source code directly (with no arguments to .configure other than --prefix) then it works fine.

Can you build it using debug symbols( -ggdb on your cflags ) and give us an strace + gdb output?
Thanks

This is the same as bug #358003 and is fixed with x11-libs/libXt-1.1.1.
