Hi. If all goes well, you'll find an ebuild attached for wxPerl.

Basically, wxPerl is an extension module allowing the creation of GUI (Graphical User Interface) from Perl; it is built as a wrapper for the awesome wxWindows C++ GUI toolkit.

Since I'm new at this, I was wondering if it shouldn't be put in dev-perl/wxPerl instead, but when I tried that the ebuild failed.

The policy on perl modules in Gentoo is that they are only specifically included in the portage tree if they are a dependency of an app or they provide utilities. If that is not the case, g-cpan.pl should be used for installation instead.

Does this ebuild fill a dependency of something already in portage?

I've watched this module mature and do like it, but have to agree with essamer - it doesn't satisfy any dependancies. Closing out bug until there is justification for the addition to portage.
