There are several issues with festival's server mode which have lead several distributions to not ship an init script for it any longer. See the following debian bug reports: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=466146 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=466796 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=495286 I think it would be good for us also to not ship an init script for festival, so let's start doing this with 2.1.
