Addendum: - This mirror does not mirror its portage tree from rsync.de.gentoo.org as said in my original text, but of course also from ftp.ussg.iu.edu. - Since announcing it here, on the German Gentoo users list and the public wiki of Hetzner Online (the datacenter operator where the mirror is located), it has seen more and more users each day and currently seems to work real fine. Thanks, it isn't that we are ignoring you here but we have quite a few community mirrors already in Germany. The need is not that high at the moment. Thanks for understanding. Hello. On behalf of the mirror-admin team, I want to apologize for not getting back to your bug report. At this time, we are closing ALL new mirror request bugs. The Gentoo Linux Infrastructure team and the mirror-admin team have found that a plethora of community mirrors exist and adding more requires an exponential amount time from us then we have available. As such, this becomes a more poor user experience than desired because the team cannot keep up. The Gentoo Linux project is not contrained in hardware resources and does not need anymore mirrors (even if your request is for a country that is not represented currently). Thanks for understanding and thank you for your interest. With regards, Jeremy |
