FYI I'm half way though this one. Trying to make stegdetect use and installed version of file rather than it half old and butchered on that it included.

Here is the ebuild file for stegdetect-0.6, I tested on ppc only, should work
on x86 as well.

Have the issues in comment 2 been addressed?

Things for your ebuild:  
  
header should be same as /usr/portage/header.txt  
KEYWORDS="~x86 ~ppc" (don't repeat keywords of the same architecture)  
DEPEND="virtual/libc"  
If "make DESTDIR=${D} install" works (instead of einstall) this is preferred.

unmaintained upstream. will likely to have problems with newer compilers/libs etc
