The imap server is inside of our institute network with an unofficial local IP address, but it is outside of my workgroup network. Sending of email works neither. Sending of email with thunderbird works, sending of emails with balsa fails with "relaying denied". Probably it is related to Bug 351049. configuration files for evolution are stored under .local/share/evolution/, not .evolution, then, maybe something got wrong there I tried once more: root@moose:/root(37)# rm -r ~rose/.config/evolution ~rose/.local/share/evolution ~rose/.gnome2/accels/evolution ~rose/.cache/evolution ~rose/.gconf/apps/evolution/ root@moose:/root(38)# ps -ef | grep evo root 25518 23584 0 12:44 pts/12 00:00:00 grep --colour=auto evo root@moose:/root(39)# killall gconfd gconfd: no process found root@moose:/root(40)# killall gconfd-2 root@moose:/root(41)# su - rose ############################################################## 99servers.sh: CUR_RUNLEVEL=|3| PREV_RUNLEVEL=|N| ############################################################## ==== Interface eth0 is OK! ===== --- i_f=eth i_f_state=OK, before 'route | grep eth' .bash_profile: after .bashrc PS1=|\[\033[01;31m\]rose@moose:\[\033[01;34m\]/home/rose(\#)$ \[\033[00m\]| LC_ALL=|| rose@moose:/home/rose(1)$ evolution Then I create a new mail account with copy and paste from the gateway computer, where evolution works. Then evolution seems to try to read with three threads to read folders at the IMAP server without asking me for a password, The reading fails and after several minutes I get an Error message in the bottom line of evolution, and some seconds later the corresonding thread (entry) disappears, some minutes later the second thread (entry in bottom line) and an half hour later the third entry disappears. In the terminal where I started evolution I see: rose@moose:/home/rose(10)$ (evolution:25152): e-data-server-ui-WARNING **: Unable to find password(s) in keyring (Keyring reports: Keine passenden Ergebnisse) (evolution:25152): camel-local-provider-WARNING **: failed a quick-sync, trying a full sync (evolution:25152): camel-local-provider-WARNING **: failed a quick-sync, trying a full sync But why evolution does not ask me for a password? Would be really interesting if you could find the steps to reproduce this problem on a new created user account with a fresh configuration I created a new linux user rose_test at computer moose and tried to create evolution accounts for him. Everything works fine. During creation (i.e. at a time, when I did not entered passwords for the new evolution account) I could also perform in the IMAP and SMTP tab the "Check for Supported Types", which does not work more for the old user rose, If I try it as the user rose the evolution client shows me several (at least more than 10) the dialog window "please wait, the server is ask for supported authentification types(translated from german) [Cancel]". When I then started the first time as new user rose_test evolution, I was asked for the password of IMAP server and than when I tried to send the first email for the password of SMTP server, as expected. What should I do, change my identy? What does occur if, in the new and working user, tou select "Forget passwords"? (and don't remove any file? I think that the removal of files blindly could cause this behavior) If I do "Forget passwords" as the new_user everythink works as expected, I will be asked again for passwords, if I try to access IMAP or SMTP servers. But for the new user rose_test there is also neither a seahorse-agent or a gnome-keyring-daemon running (I assume, because the user rose_test is not logged in via gdm or kdm, but only with 'su - rose_test), which is running for the old user rose. I think this bug is invalid then as the steps you posted in original comment are really not the way to go and not supported (I mean, removing configuration files blindly and so.) I have the trouble with this evolution acount for more than one month. I do not know exactly, what was the first step I did to reset the password. I think it was "Forget passwords" under the file menu of evolution as I wrote in my first posting. And as this was not succesfull I googled and found the hints to remove the evolution configuration files. But even if this is not the correct way to reset passwords, it can happen that the configuration files are corrupted and you want to setup an new evolution client for an existing linux user. Or should I rename my home directory and create a new one? You could probably try to copy files and dirs from failing-home directory to working-one until it fails, pointing to the culprit. Evolution configuration is under ~/.config/evolution (anyway, for this kind of issues, it's usually better to go to forums instead of opening a bug at first) Hi Pacho, I went to the forums, there I got the hint to remove these directories. Now I hit the same issue on the second computer, evolution seems to be not able to get the new messages from IMAP server of the institute. I selected "Forget Passwords" and then "Send/Receive". Evolution does not ask for password. I quit evolution and start evolution again, it does not ask for passwords. I just realized that evolution tries to access the institut IMAP server, which I have not configured, compare the attached screenshot. It is the same error as BUG 351049 mentioned in comment 3. But nevertheless I don't understand, why evolution does not asked for passwords, if I selected before "Forget Passwords". Created attachment 262915 [details]

I have to add a correction to comment 14. I wanted say, that evolution tries to access the IMAP server with a custom command which I have not configured. (In reply to comment #13) > Hi Pacho, > > I went to the forums, there I got the hint to remove these directories. > Now I hit the same issue on the second computer, evolution seems to be not able > to get the new messages from IMAP server of the institute. I selected "Forget > Passwords" and then "Send/Receive". Evolution does not ask for password. I quit > evolution and start evolution again, it does not ask for passwords. > Please run evolution from a terminal and look for messages shown there (please do all tests with the "clean" account, not the one where you removed the config files manually) Any news here? |
