The output of lsusb (from sys-apps/usbutils) would be useful here, and the output of `emerge --info sys-fs/udev'. I don't think net-print/cups has anything to do with it - it merely can't see a printer that the OS doesn't let it see. Please attach your kernel .config as a file, too. I have a similar problem, while the message is not 100% the same, it seems to be the same: I keep receiving messages like: Feb 9 22:31:51 Darkness kernel: [24328.146264] usb 2-1: usbfs: interface 0 claimed by usblp while 'usb' sets config #1 And the printer is NOT recognized. It is curious that it works perfectly when REMOVING usb USE flag from cups-1.4.6 (it does not make much sense since printer is actually usb!, but it is recognized and works without usb flag). I'll attach a lsusb as you mentioned to bugreporter, but, can this bug be reopened? Created attachment 261975 [details]

This is the info from lsusb of my printer (hp1018) using foo2zjs driver.

emerge --info sys-fs/udev
Emerge info from udev

Kernel's .config file
Finally, as I said above, it seems not to be related to udev, since it just works for me without usb USE flag. So maybe ebuild need review or usb flag needs to be masked (?) |
