Description Eric Vinson 2003-12-06 16:35:16 UTC
After an 'emerge -u alsa-driver' to the 0.98 verion of Alsa driver. I can no longer mute my Line in. I can still select it as a recording device, this allows me to use a TV card to watch XawTV. It however comes into play with MythTV. I can't mute Line in thus the video and audio are out of sync. Before upgrading to the 0.98 driver, I was using 0.92. The inability to mute Line in, and level controls render MythTV's "Pause Live TV" useless. This was not a problem using the 0.92 Alsa Driver. Also the slider controls for Line in seem to not fuction. Adjusting them has no effect on Line in levels. So for Line in, using the Alsa emu10k1 module, you only have the option of selecting Line In as a recording device or NOT selecting it. Fine for XawTV, not so fine for MythTV.

I use alsamixergui to control the Audigy.

I have found, while using gnome-alsamixer, that if I select MIX (which is unselectable in alsamixergui), I can then mute the Line In. This allows Line in to be captured and played back with the proper delay for MythTV. However, the slider bars for Line In and Mic still have no bearing upon the signal level. It's either ON or OFF.
