(In reply to comment #0) > fltk-1.1.9 is the latest stable fltk release in the portage tree in slot 1.1. > This pulls in <sys-libs/glibc-2.10, which is at least very ugly, because glibc > 2.11.2-r3 is stable. This seems to obstruct a regular world update. 'emerge -avuDN world' gives: [ebuild UD] sys-libs/glibc-2.9_p20081201-r2 [2.11.2-r3] USE="(multilib) nls -debug -gd -glibc-omitfp (-hardened) -profile (-selinux) -vanilla" 16,621 kB [...] [ebuild UD] x11-libs/fltk-1.1.9 [1.1.9-r1] USE="opengl -doc -examples -games -threads -xft -xinerama" 0 kB Total: 10 packages (6 upgrades, 2 downgrades, 1 new, 1 reinstall), Size of downloads: 20,630 kB !!! One or more updates have been skipped due to a dependency conflict: sys-libs/glibc:2.2 (sys-libs/glibc-2.11.2-r3::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) conflicts with <sys-libs/glibc-2.10 required by (x11-libs/fltk-1.1.9::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) And then portage complains when trying to proceed, because appearantly downgrading glibc is unwise. One solution is to unmask the version of fltk-1.1-r2 #echo "=x11-libs/fltk-1.1-r2" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords #emerge -av1 =x11-libs/fltk-1.1.9-r2 These are the packages that would be merged, in order: Calculating dependencies... done! [ebuild U ] x11-libs/fltk-1.1.9-r2 [1.1.9-r1] USE="opengl -doc -examples -games -threads -xft -xinerama" 0 kB Total: 1 package (1 upgrade), Size of downloads: 0 kB Would you like to merge these packages? [Yes/No] So, fix the cause of the downgrade glibc :) x11-libs/fltk-1.1.9-r1, the only stable version in the 1.1 slot that works with current glibc (>=2.10), has been removed. This can't be right. Looks like fltk-1.1.9-r1 removal was a mistake and has already been fixed in CVS, so that is the stable version you've been looking for. Ok to close this bug, or does somebody want to request stabilizing fltk-1.1.9-r2 specifically? I am ok with that. So I am closing this bug. If this is not an acceptable solution for anyone, do not hesitate to contradict. |
