Description Florian Philipp 2011-01-15 12:35:22 UTC
MPlayer ships with some localized man-pages. However, according to upstream (http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/documentation.html), most of these are "outdated," "incomplete" or at least marked with "help wanted."

I think many users including myself prefer having only the up-to-date English man-pages installed. The current workaround to achieve this is to set LINGUAS="en" when emerging mplayer but there is no clean way store this setting for just this package. You have to remember this at every update. Additionally, it also affects the command line output.

What I'd like to have is a local USE-flag like no-outdated-docs which strips mplayer of all man-pages marked as "outdated" or "incomplete."

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:

This is somewhat related to #228799 but still a different issue.

Um, sorry. The description is misleading. The man-pages themselves are mostly not marked "outdated." That's the online documentation. The man-pages are all just marked "help wanted." Still, my argument holds that many will prefer having only the up-to-date English version.
