Please, paste your "emerge -pv gdb" output. Also, give it a try without ccache. I don't know the behaviour of ccache in configure phase, but it won't harm to try without it. gdb-7.2 was marked stable in x86 some days ago, which means that your error didn't hit our x86 arch testers. Also, attach your full build and config logs.
