Description Artem Baguinski 2003-12-04 03:04:16 UTC
i haven't figure yet how to recreate this problem but sometimes one (or several)
of the following problems occure in MozillaFirebird under ratpoison:

1. i can see the keyboard input cursor flashing in some field but as i type
nothing appears.
2. mouse gets trapped inside some subwindow, e.g. java applet
3. mouse pointer avoids certain areas on window and jumps to some other
posiotion as i try to move it there.

Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
i didn't get the pattern yet ;)

Are there any particular websites that set this off?

I'm not sure if this is the same problem, but I'm using MozillaFirebird with fluxbox and the problem occurs when:
1) I put the cursor in the address bar
2) I move the mouse over the page
3) I switch to another workspace
4) I switch back to the workspace with MozillaFirebird (and no other apps)
5) I try to type in the address bar

After having compiled MozillaFirebird about 10 times with different switches for configure, I noticed that the problem disappears if I don't use gtk2 as the default toolkit (--enable-default-toolkit=gtk2).

Try emerging firebird like this:
USE="-gtk2" emerge mozilla-firebird

Please let me know if that fixes the problem.

If it does, I would like to get some help from someone more experienced with gtk2 to find out if the problem is in gtk2 itself.

Griffon26,

I'd suggest trying a different bug for this. fluxbox and mozilla have a fun history, and this probably more due to a focus issue (or has been in my experience) than anything. You might try using alt+tab to see if this makes fluxbox play nicer with mozilla (this applies to firebird as well).

suddenly i don't have no problems anymore.
