 * Since you've chosen to turn off some of libsdl's functionality,
 * don't bother filing libsdl-related bugs until trying to remerge
 * libsdl with the audio, video, and joystick flags in USE.
 * You need to know what you're doing to selectively turn off parts of libsdl.
 * Since you've chosen to use possibly unsafe CFLAGS,
 * don't bother filing libsdl-related bugs until trying to remerge
 * libsdl without the custom-cflags use flag in USE.


Clearly, I don't have a joystick, so I wont emerge it with that use, these are my current use - 

X aalib alsa audio custom-cflags dga opengl video xinerama xv -directfb -esd -fbcon -ggi -joystick -libcaca -nas -oss -pulseaudio -svga -tslib

Nowhere it is even suggested that you change your use flags to enable joystick or disable custom-cflags.

The only statement from the elog is that all libsdl bugs which you file will be rejected, unless you have a supported USE flag combination.
