Description Tom Butz 2010-12-19 04:00:46 UTC
Compiling genkernel crashes when compiling modules.I'm using an old
kernel (2.6.22) from a Rescue-CD and that works well - even on a 2.6.36
system. Very strange indeed! I've added Slackware's dial-up system manually
and that works well, too (Slackware 12.2).

Is there something in the manuals that I'm not aware of? I've followed the
quick version and the standard version to the letter.

Thanks for your help,

Tom Butz, New Zealand.

Reproducible: Always

Please provide more details.

What is the complete name of the iso you're using? How are you getting the genkernel crash? Please add the relevant output to this bug.

Since there are so many things that can break compiling of the kernel and its modules, we need at least emerge --info and /var/log/genkernel.log from the reporter or we have to close this bug.

There's nothing we can do without the required info.
