emerge --depclean spits out the following:

 * In order to avoid breakage of link level dependencies, one or more
 * packages will not be removed. This can be solved by rebuilding the
 * packages that pulled them in.
 * 
 *   media-libs/libsamplerate-0.1.7 pulled in by:
 *     media-plugins/audacious-plugins-2.4.2 needs libsamplerate.so.0
 * 

Reinstalling audacious-plugins does not make this go away.

resample plugin (--enable-resample) controls that dep.
