Description doggie 2010-12-10 09:28:56 UTC
Hi!
The first try to connect to a 5GHz WLAN with wpa_supplicant, right after the module iwlagn has been loaded, fails. It actually connects, and even gets an IP-adress, but no further communication is possible, I have to reassociate.

Logs are attached. If it helps, I can also make a wireshark-dump. Please let me know, if you need more information.

problem.log: detailed log, where all kernel messages and commands can be seen
l. 98: takes ~30s, probably a timeout
l. 148: takes ~5min (see time-code). I don't know what it means, but it is actually no problem (see l. 154)

info.log:
- uname -a
- eix wpa_supplicant
- emerge --info

The AP is a Fritz!Box 7390 with the newest firmware 84.04.88.

The problem does NOT occur on:
- Same machine while running Windows
- A MacBook
- Other Windows machines

Maybe it has something to do with the update of the region code (problem.log: l. 61ff). I live in Germany, and so it is updated correctly to DE.

The strange thing is, that it gets an IP address (dhcpcd seems to communicate), but no further communication is possible.

Thanks in advance,
doggie

Might be a good idea to take this upsteam, and have them help you.

I cannot really do that (well, I could create a bug upstream about it, but I think it will only be slowing it down, if I'm proxying messages between here and upstream).

Could I get you to create a bug report upstream, and add it to the URL field on this bug?

(If there is a bug in the code that gets fixed upstream, just let me know, and I'll add it to a new revision of the ebuild).

Any news here? Did you try with wpa_supplicant-1.0-r2

Sorry, I have currently no working gentoo installation to test this. Can someone else confirm the bug?
