Description Acollier 2003-12-01 08:30:25 UTC
Emerge the newest ALA upgrade marked as stable 0.9.8, the sound system ceases to
work - syas it cannot find the emu10K1 driver (during load). Have uninstalled
completely ALSA, resinstalled 0.9.8 by the numbers (using the SALS guide at
gentoo.org), remade my kernel, etc.

Multiple messages by others on Gentoo Forums (Multimedia forums) duplicate my
results exactly.

Only downgrade seems to work. So its obviously some sort of bug wiht ht e0.9.8
pagkage or 0.9.8 itself.

I am running the main Gentoo kernel 2.4.20-r8 kernel

SBLive, em10k1 driver

installed per the alsa guide.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge --update world
2. genkernel
3. emerge alsa-driver
4. reboot
etc.

Actual Results:
during boot, when alsa shoudl load, it says it cannto find the alsa drivers.

Expected Results:
Foudn the drivers and loaded them, like it did before.
