I believe luke-jr was working on something that would allow us to do this. There are unsupported torrents for the original 1.4 release at http://dev.gentoo.org/~luke-jr/torrent Seeding by mirrors is not complete yet, though, so most torrents are dead. you should make them official and advertise them on the "Get Gentoo" page. BitTorrent is just as good as FTP... (and does not create such a high load on the server) I like the idea, but I don't know if we have anyone that currently can maintain the bt stuff (luke-jr is no longer w/ gentoo). Kurt - do you know of anyone? no, nobody has stepped up to take this project over. We're able to provide infrastructure support (bandwidth, diskspace, etc.) to host this, but someone needs to provide an automated process to serve up the torrents. Manually setting a new torrent each time is not an acceptable solution (which is what luke-jr was doing before) unless some dev takes this up, I really don't see it happening. closing until we get a dev to support it. |
