Please stabilize sys-apps/portage-2.1.9.24 (bug 335925 tracks bugs fixed since 2.1.8.x). As usual, NEWS and RELEASE-NOTES have some info about what's new in 2.1.9:

Tested on SPARC, passed all its tests OK. Stablisation would be a great idea.

using it, since when it bumped, on my 5 x86 machines, also hardened, no problem here.

Anyway I compiled it without collision-protect and test
